Our Gabion Stone is a locally-sourced Kentish Ragstone. A hardwearing limestone with a rich history, it is only produced in Kent and is widely used for restoration, historical conservation and heritage projects in the South-East. It is also used in the landscaping of both private and public gardens, as well as civil engineering projects.
When quarried, Kentish Ragstone appears grey green or blue green, but as time passes it transforms into a warm autumnal shade. These colour properties together with durability make Kentish Ragstone a very sought after material. A workhorse of a stone, it’s use in construction dates back to Roman Times and it was the building material of choice for the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey and Leeds Castle. So, if it’s good enough for them…!
Gabion Stone is used to fill gabion baskets (or cages) – a simple and cost-effective way to create retaining walls on terraces, stream and river banks, and bridge abutments. It is also used for flood prevention.
In gardens, gabion baskets are used to create walls, benches and other decorative and practical features.
Size: 100-200mm
Add interest and intrigue to your garden with Corker’s range of decorative aggregates. We stock an impressive choice of types, sizes and colours, so you’re sure to find the perfect products to turn your landscaping aspirations into reality.
Use one type to create a uniform theme, use two or three in different areas to create contrast, or think totally outside the box and mix products together!
All of our gravel, pebbles, shingle and chippings have a long lasting mulching effect. A layer of stones will insulate soil and improve drainage in cold, wet weather, and provide root shade and aid water retention in hot weather. Hard mulches are also brilliant at stopping weeds in their tracks, meaning you have more time to spend on the gardening jobs you enjoy.
Our decorative aggregates are suitable for driveways, paths, borders, rockeries, water features and much more.
