Endless Possibilities at Corker

Add interest and intrigue to your garden with Corker’s range of decorative aggregates. We stock an impressive choice of types, sizes and colours, so you’re sure to find the perfect products to turn your landscaping aspirations into reality.

Use one type to create a uniform theme, use two or three in different areas to create contrast, or think totally outside the box and mix products together!

All of our gravel, pebbles, shingle and chippings have a long lasting mulching effect. A layer of stones will insulate soil and improve drainage in cold, wet weather, and provide root shade and aid water retention in hot weather. Hard mulches are also brilliant at stopping weeds in their tracks, meaning you have more time to spend on the gardening jobs you enjoy.

Our decorative aggregates are suitable for driveways, paths, borders, rockeries, water features and much more.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Green Basalt?
Green Basalt is a striking decorative aggregate made from naturally quarried basalt stone. It features a subtle greenish-grey tone that darkens beautifully when wet, making it ideal for modern garden designs, driveways, and pathways.

2. What size is the stone?
The chippings are graded between 10mm and 20mm, offering a textured yet refined finish suitable for both decorative and practical landscaping purposes.

3. What colour is Green Basalt?
When dry, the stone appears pale grey-green, while in wet conditions it deepens to a rich, dark green, adding bold contrast and visual interest to garden spaces.

4. Where can Green Basalt be used?
It is suitable for a wide range of applications, including:

  • Driveways and paths
  • Garden borders and beds
  • Contemporary landscaping schemes
  • Rock gardens and minimalist spaces
  • Around water features or stepping stones

5. Is it suitable for driveways?

Yes. Green Basalt’s angular shape provides excellent interlocking properties, making it a great choice for driveways and other load-bearing surfaces when installed over a solid sub-base.

6. Does it help with weed control?
Yes. When laid over a weed membrane, Green Basalt helps suppress weed growth while still allowing rainwater to drain through.

7. Will the colour fade over time?
No. The stone is naturally pigmented and UV-stable, so it retains its colour long-term. Its darker tones become especially pronounced when wet, making it a great choice for areas with water or rainfall.

8. Is it safe for pets and children?
Yes. Green Basalt is a natural, non-toxic material that is safe for use in family gardens and pet-friendly spaces. The angular stones are firm underfoot but not sharp.

9. Is it suitable around water features?
Definitely. Green Basalt’s colour intensifies when wet, making it a perfect decorative element around ponds, fountains, or water channels. Just ensure it’s placed above the waterline if water chemistry is a concern.

10. How much do I need?
For general coverage at a depth of 30–40mm, one bulk bag (approx. 850kg) covers 8–10m². Measure your area and depth to estimate the amount accurately.
