Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are Terram Pegs used for?
Terram Pegs are designed to secure geotextile membranes, weed control fabrics, and other landscaping materials in place. They prevent movement or lifting due to wind, water, or foot traffic during and after installation.

2. Are they compatible with Terram 1000 membranes?
Yes. They are specifically recommended for use with Terram 1000 and similar non-woven geotextile membranes, ensuring a firm and long-lasting hold in a variety of soil types.

3. What material are the pegs made from?
Terram Pegs are typically made from durable, UV-resistant plastic or galvanised steel, making them strong enough to penetrate firm ground and withstand outdoor conditions over time.

4. How many pegs do I need per square metre?
As a general guide, use 1 peg per square metre for flat areas. For sloped or high-traffic zones, use more densely — around 2–3 pegs per m² — to ensure proper anchorage.

5. Can they be reused?
Yes, depending on the soil type and how they’re removed, many pegs can be reused. However, for critical or permanent installations, it’s advisable to use new ones for maximum stability.

6. Do they work on all soil types?
Terram Pegs are suitable for most soil conditions, including clay, loam, and sandy soil. In very rocky or compacted ground, metal pegs may perform better than plastic.

7. Do they sit flush with the membrane?
Yes, when installed correctly, the head of the peg sits flush or slightly below the membrane surface, ensuring a tidy finish that won’t interfere with gravel, turf, or other top layers.

8. Can they be used for artificial grass or turf?
Definitely. Terram Pegs can be used to secure membranes or underlays beneath artificial grass, helping maintain alignment and drainage beneath the surface.
