Product Description
Description
Terram T1000 Geotextile Membrane prevents the mixing of soils and granular materials, acting as a separator and ground stabiliser in such construction applications as paved and unpaved roads, car parks, cycle paths, railways, SuDS installations, and airfields.
Terram 1000 sheeting is also great for use under paving in private terraces and driveways, as it deters weed growth.
By preventing the ingress of the subgrade layer into the sub-base, Terram 1000 increases the bearing strength, stability, and life cycle of the constructed surface.
Terram geotextile is a nonwoven membrane, manufactured from UV stabilised, high tenacity virgin polypropylene fibres, mechanically and thermally bonded to provide high strength and excellent abrasion qualities.
Price is per M2.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Terram 1000?
Terram 1000 is a non-woven geotextile membrane designed to separate, stabilise, and filter ground layers in landscaping and civil engineering projects. It helps improve ground performance and longevity by preventing the intermixing of different materials.
2. Where is Terram 1000 typically used?
It’s widely used under gravel driveways, patios, pathways, car parks, and access roads. It’s also effective in land drainage, tree pits, and beneath turf to prevent soil contamination and improve stability.
3. What does it do exactly?
Terram 1000 acts as a separation and filtration layer, preventing the mixing of sub-base materials with soil or other substrates. It also allows water to pass through while stopping the passage of fine particles, helping reduce rutting and subsidence.
4. Is it suitable for use beneath gravel or stone?
Yes, it’s ideal beneath gravel, crushed stone, or Type 1 MOT. It prevents the base material from sinking into the soil, helping to maintain a stable and level surface over time.
5. Is it permeable?
Yes. Terram 1000 is permeable to water, allowing for efficient drainage and preventing water pooling, while still filtering out soil and debris.
6. How is it different from weed membrane?
Unlike lightweight weed control fabrics, Terram 1000 is heavy-duty and engineered for structural applications. While both suppress weeds, Terram offers far greater strength and durability for use under load-bearing surfaces.
7. What material is it made from?
Terram 1000 is made from UV-stabilised, needle-punched polypropylene fibres. It’s tough, tear-resistant, and designed to withstand long-term ground pressure.
8. Can it be cut to size?
Yes. It can be easily trimmed using sharp scissors or a utility knife. It’s best to cut it on-site to fit your specific layout or ground shape.
9. Does it need to be overlapped when installing?
Yes. For effective installation, an overlap of 300mm to 500mm is recommended at the joints to prevent displacement and maintain continuity across the surface.
10. Is it suitable for heavy-duty applications like driveways?
Definitely. Terram 1000 is specifically designed to provide reinforcement and stabilisation for driveways, car parks, and similar high-load applications.
11. Will it break down over time?
No. It is rot-proof, chemically inert, and resistant to ground bacteria and fungi. It’s built for long-term performance in demanding environments.
