Our British, kiln-dried, mixed hardwood logs are the perfect fuel of choice for your woodstove! Our unique, super-efficient drying process guarantees a moisture content of less than 20%. This is essential for creating optimised levels of heat, and for minimising the amount of ash and tar they produce when burning. That means you get an incredibly satisfying and intense heat that lasts longer, and a chimney and flue that stays much cleaner, reducing the chance of a chimney fire. On top of these impressive credentials, we’re also proud to confirm that all our firewood is fully certified through the government backed, WoodSure, “Ready to Burn” scheme.
As an independent British business, we’re also extremely proud that these kiln-dried, mixed hardwood logs are sustainably sourced and locally produced in nearby Sussex. The managed woodland generates outstanding timber through the traditional, ancient practice of coppicing. With the correct, expert nurturing of the root system, our trees produce multiple trunks that can be continually harvested. It’s a simple case of optimising the tree’s natural instinct to “retrench” – shedding branches to increase their lifespan, so it’s actually beneficial to the trees. But it’s also beneficial to the rest of the woodland. As the trees are harvested, greater amounts of light reach the floor, and other species – from wildflowers to butterflies, flourish, creating greater biodiversity.
Perfection takes time, so, after processing, our wood is slow dried in specialist kilns. The kiln is fuelled with waste wood, such as small branches, and the warm air is then circulated by solar-powered fans.
It’s important to avoid imported firewood, or mass-produced logs transported from “factory” forests devoid of life in far flung English and Scottish counties. We believe it’s possible to create sustainable, energy-conscious, bio-beneficial firewood that you can enjoy with a clear conscience. Our kiln-dried, hardwood logs deliver just that, and the incredible joy of a roaring fire on a cold day! We’ve taken the right steps to secure the smallest carbon footprint possible for this product. In short, we have a humble goal – to supply local firewood to local people in the best way possible.
And as well as being of incredible quality, they also deliver impressive value too. All our firewood is supplied in bulk bags, with an average volume of 0.7m3. So, although we hope you’ll love this firewood so much you’ll keep coming back for more, you won’t have to come back quite so often!
