Product Description

Discover the secret to a flourishing garden with our Spent Mushroom Compost, an exceptional soil enhancer designed to nourish and revitalise your garden’s soil. This compost is the ultimate natural solution for neutralising acidic soils, making it particularly beneficial for growing Brassica vegetables like broccoli and Brussels sprouts, as well as root vegetables and rose bushes. Its alkaline nature also makes it an excellent choice for the majority of flower beds, promoting vibrant and healthy blooms.

Its specific alkaline properties mean it’s not suitable for ericaceous (acid-loving) plants like rhododendrons, camellias, and azaleas, or for use in neutral, alkaline, or chalky soils. If you are looking for an Eco Friendly, recycled compost for your use in these areas, add a bag of our Green Compost (LINK) to your order, and get the best of both worlds – tailor made care for your garden!

Spent Mushroom Compost’s unique composition, low in soluble nitrogen yet rich in vital minerals like phosphate, potassium, calcium, and magnesium, ensures a balanced nutrient supply for your plants. This careful balance minimises the risk of plant burn, a common concern with many composts, while enhancing soil structure and moisture retention. It’s particularly effective in breaking up heavy soils, facilitating better root growth and reducing the likelihood of diseases such as clubroot.

For any further questions or tailored advice, our horticultural experts are just a call or message away, ready to assist you in making the most of our compost for your garden’s unique needs.

Perfect Your Soil’s pH

Treat your broccoli and Brussels sprouts to a deep conditioning treatment. Soil conditioning, that is! Alkaline in nature, mushroom compost is just the ticket for neutralising your soil, creating the ideal conditions for growing Brassica and root vegetables. It’s also beneficial for flower beds and rose bushes but do avoid using it with your ericaceous (acid-loving) plants.
