Frequently Asked Questions
1. What material are Dune Pearl Slips made of?
Dune Pearl Slips are crafted from natural limestone, combining beauty, durability, and timeless appeal.
2. What is the finish or texture of these slips?
They undergo a process of acid-etching and tumbling, creating a soft vintage look and subtly textured surface for enhanced grip.
3. Can Dune Pearl Slips be used for both walls and floors?
Yes — they are versatile, suitable for cladding walls or as a flooring/slip surface, allowing consistency in design across vertical and horizontal spaces.
4. What is the colour or appearance like?
These slips present warm beige and sand tones, often with visible fossil details, giving them character and a natural, earthy ambiance.
5. What are their typical dimensions or size format?
They come in slip form (narrow rectangular pieces) suitable for laying in runs or patterns — ideal for molding detail, borders, or feature walls.
6. Are there natural colour or texture variations to expect?
Yes. Because it’s a natural stone product, slight variations in tone, veining, and fossil patterns are normal and accentuate the natural beauty of the material.
7. How durable are the slips for outdoor exposure?
They are built for external use: the natural limestone and textured finish help resist weathering, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments.
8. What maintenance or cleaning do they require?
Regular dusting or gentle rinsing is recommended. Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner when deeper cleaning is needed. Avoid harsh acids or abrasive chemicals.
9. Can the slips be cut or trimmed on site?
Yes — with proper stone cutting tools (e.g. a diamond blade). It’s best done by experienced installers to preserve the finish and edges.
10. What base or support structure is recommended for installation (floor or wall)?
For flooring/slips over ground: install on a stable, compacted sub-base with proper bedding mortar or sand and ensure drainage.
For wall cladding: use a secure backing, appropriate adhesive or mortar, and allow for correct expansion, fixing, and support behind each slip.
11. Will the colour change or patina develop over time?
Yes, natural limestone can develop a gentle patina over time, softening its appearance. Applying a suitable stone sealer can help preserve the original tones and protect against surface staining.
